A thick, plush beard immediately commands attention. However, it might not be what you want if it is not well-manicured. Don’t worry; there are a few easy tips you may use to determine the best way to style your facial hair. You can get a look that is equally macho and mature by styling your beard in a way that contrasts or emphasizes your facial characteristics.

Once you’ve chosen a decent style, you can keep it up by trimming it to a tidy length and occasionally touching up noticeable parts like your cheekbones, neckline, and sideburns.

What Makes a Beard look Good

To maintain a neat and even appearance, trim your beard around once per month. Use the best possible instruments to achieve the best results. The ideal tools for trimming and styling a thick beard are scissors and a comb. Compared to using an electric trimmer, you have a lower chance of cutting too much hair.

Steps to Trim and Edge Your Beard Properly

Trimming and edging your beard properly can help you achieve a clean, well-groomed look. Follow these steps to get a perfect trim and edge:

    1. Shower

Before you take care of your beard, it needs to be cleaned and washed. Use a light shampoo or a beard wash to do that. Be sure to wash your face and beard together. Many guys, especially those with dry and sensitive skin, struggle with razor burns and irritation. Before clipping facial hair, take a shower to reduce these problems.

Moreover, before starting to groom your beard, take a warm shower to help the procedure go more smoothly. The look of razor burns and skin irritation will be diminished because the facial hair will be softer, smoother, more moisturized, and simpler to handle.

    2. Let the Beard Dry and Fall into Shape Naturally

Avoid vigorously rubbing your beard to speed up the drying process because doing so will weaken the hair follicles, which are already more fragile while wet. Instead, use a light dabbing method with a soft towel.

Make sure your beard is properly dried. It’s crucial because it is a necessary step in the grooming process. Also, let your beard fall into its most natural form so that you can make the correct trimming decisions.

    3. Comb your Beard

If your beard is long or thick, it could become tangled after washing and drying. It should be combed to remove any tangles.

A good quality comb is your best friend here. A beard comb is useful for applying conditioning products and nourishing oils, but it’s also useful for shaping the beard before it’s trimmed. Additionally, before trimming, you’ll use it to comb mustache hairs over the lip.

    4. Use a Pair of Scissors to Edge your Beard

You can trim your beard to the desired form by taking as much or as little length off as you’d like with a good pair of grooming scissors. Scissors are also excellent for removing the obstinate split ends that extend outward from your face.

Another appealing feature of scissors is that you may trim your beard to any length you choose without making it look thinner and less dense. Use your scissors to maintain your beard instead of your trimmers if you want it to be longer. Remove any apparent split ends with a pair of scissors without cutting the beard’s length.

Cut away any uneven edges of your beard and make a rough outline for yourself to work more efficiently when you pick up your trimmer. Remember, here you are just getting rid of any unevenly grown facial hair, the shaping and trimming come later.

    5. Decide on the Shape of your Beard

Now comes the time for you to decide whether you want a grown beard of carefully shaped stubble.

If you’re a member of the bearded world, you undoubtedly already know that growing a healthy beard was never truly a trend. With each fade you scroll through on social media, the temptation to sport the same cut grows stronger. Beard envy is a real thing.

While it might be quite a task to select a beard style based on shapes and symmetry, being aware of the fundamentals will help you in your quest to accentuate your characteristics.

The best beard shape for your face will depend on a few different things, of course. The size of your mouth, nose, and jawline are just a few of the distinctive factors that go into every face.

    6. Start Trimming Your Beard

To cut your beard to the length you like, use clippers. (It is preferable, to begin with, a larger guard to avoid unintentionally trimming things too short.) An even length all around is acceptable if you want something straightforward and brief. You’ll need to make things a little more challenging if you’re going farther or want to give it some shape.

    7. Set your Mustache

You should remove those hairs from your upper lip after you’ve used clippers to trim your hair down. To avoid the guard getting tangled in your nostrils, consider running the clippers over your face width-wise.

How far above your lip should you trim? You should carefully decide on this one. Some men prefer a lot of clearance, while others like a little overhang. Start lower and gradually increase to your taste.

    8. Trim Your Neckline

Ignoring this important dividing line or trimming it incorrectly are the two biggest ways to endanger your beard. If you stop too close to the jawline, even if you don’t, it will appear like you have a double chin. But if you let it get too far down your neck, people will start to compare you to a rabid animal.

Trimming anything under your Adam’s apple is a good idea, but where you draw the boundary can differ slightly from person to person.

For the best beard, you might need to move a bit above or below Adam’s apple because different people have longer or shorter necks.

However, it still serves as a useful benchmark for when the beard line will dip the least. Then, simply extend that upward in a gentle curve in the direction of your ears to form a shallow “U” shape.

    9. Nourish Your Beard

Your beard needs moisture to keep healthy, just like the hair on top of your head does. Use decent beard oil to hydrate and maintain the appearance of your facial hair to round up the process.

After trimming your beard, comb it through to distribute the oil and style it back into place.

Remember to be patient and take your time while trimming and edging your beard. It’s better to trim a little bit at a time rather than taking off too much at once.
